October 25: Articulate User Conference. You can search the Internet for other sites, but for my money, either one of those two above are more than what you’ll need. Lots of variety and easy to filter to find audio based on mood and duration. YouTube Audio Library: requires a YouTube account so you have access to the studio free for commercial use, no attribution search options.Like always, be sure to check the license and attribution requirements which can change. Here are a couple of options that should provide most of the free background music you need. There are a lot of “free” sites, but to tell you the truth most of them are useless. Another benefit is that it helps set a pace and tone for the recording. Often, I am recording in a home office and there’s always some ambient noise which I find distracting.īackground music can mask some of the ambient noise. Like many of you, I don’t record in a profession sound studio. Compared to the electronic cityscape music, classical, ambient and similarly structured tracks seem more suited to this aesthetic.I like to add background audio to my screencast tutorials. ![]() Overall it feels right that the time lapse background music should match that sense of breath. ![]() They show rarely-seen moments unfolding with an organic ebb and flow-almost like the picture is breathing-that is certainly very different from the city footage. One Green Planet has a collection of ten beautiful nature films nearly all follow this principle. The reason has to do again with the visual. But whereas that push for electronica worked perfectly for an urban view, a natural vista is usually paired with something calmer and more relaxed. One minute the flower buds are closed, and then the next, they’re open. Unlike the busy go-go-go of the city, a natural process in time lapse, like a flower blooming, poses a different paradox. It’s not extremely fast, but it has a relentless feel to it, just like Singapore’s notorious work culture. It’s a buzzing, driving, electronic beat. The soundscape certainly matches this landscape. The visual is hypnotic and undeniably busy, like a metallic bee hive. It uses a mix of filming techniques to create a vision of a futuristic city that’s practically robotic in its forward drive. For urban hyperlapse footage, for example, As an illustration, check out a gorgeous film of Singapore’s skyline, Lion City II – Majulah, by Keith Loutit. But does up-tempo time lapse background music really work?Īs a matter of fact, it can work great, if the visual is right. As a result, it can be tempting to put the soundtrack on fast forward as well, like a comedy chase theme tune. ![]() To put it unelegantly, it’s fast forward, in essence. It’s footage of something that normally is very slow being shown sped up to an extreme extent. The thing about time lapse video is that it’s basically a study in extreme contrast. ![]()
